Over 2 Gs Raised !!

Yep - you read that right... over $2,000 raised for the New Hope Orphanage in Swaziland

Online: $1854.44 CDN
Cash: $100 Amr + $155 CDN

Total : $ 2119.44 CDN

i have no idea of what they will do with the money... but that puts them 2 Gs ahead of where they were before we started all this.

The supplies-to-go are now officially overweight. I am now relying on the good-juju fairy to whisk us magically through customs without any hassle or extra charges.
Ya' see, the good-juju fairy always comes though when one is doing good-juju things, like what we are trying to do. Unfortunately, it is possible the good-juju fairy will be out on the piss with the Beer-fairy ( you know, the way that, no matter how broke you are, there is somehow always money for beer.... well, that comes from the Beer-fairy.... she's never let me down yet ! ).
Should good-juju fairy leave us high-and-dry in the Johannesburg International Airport, i may have to start a special blog / paypal-plea for extra funds to bail our bags out of international-prison ( would our luggage really end up at The Hague ? )

Thank you all for helping us out to make the trip that-much-more memorable

we promise not to spend your money on beer ( see previous paragraph )

Thanks for sharing this important perspective and information, Chris!!

I hope you all learn to spread the word about AIDS, other diseases and poverty in African countries - it's amazing how few here truly grasp what is going on in the rest of the world, particularly Africa.

Rather than feel guilty about your own comparative wealth, I suggest that you DO feel good about the difference (small or big) you are personally making and reflect more (and, again, spread the word) on how the rest of the VERY rich western societies allow this to happen. Relatively little money and political work from the West (e.g., pressuring the obscenely profitable top pharmaceutical companies) could quickly lead to the eradication of many diseases prevalent in African countries, provide adequate AIDS/HIV support (including the drugs that prevent in utero HIV transfer) and help African societies get back on their feet.

Anyways, y'all know I could go on and on. I just hope you guys can muster up the moral force that your personal experiences will legitimize and help us in the West wake up.
